Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) has completed its glorious 50 years. During the year1923, the Lee Commission had recommended forming a Central Public Service Commission in the country, but it did not give much consideration to the requirement of setting up similar commissions in provinces. It was left basically to the judgment of provincial Governments to engage and exercise control over their Services.
At the time of formation of the state of Rajasthan, the institution of Public Service Commission existed in only 3 states i.e. Jaipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner. The successor government after the amalgamation of the princely states disseminated an ordinance on 16th Aug, 1949 to form the Rajasthan Public Service Commission Ajmer. It provided for the ending of the Public Service Commission s or other institution performing duties of those of a Public Service Commission in the constituent states.
