Maharashtra State Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board was established under the Maharashtra Secondary Boards Act 1965. The act was amended in 1977. Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education was come into existence on 1st January 1966. Maharashtra board was established to regulate certain matters pertaining to secondary education. The most important task of the board is to accomplish the SSC and HSC examinations.
